Aiming High. Achieving Excellence.

What is WSDC?

WSDC, or the World Schools Debating Championships, is the highest international stage for school-level debating. Each year, national teams from more than 60 countries come together to compete, learn and exchange ideas while engaging with some of the most important issues shaping the world today.

The championship follows the World Schools format, which combines elements of British Parliamentary and Australian debating. This structure encourages clear argumentation, strong teamwork and confident public speaking. Students take part in both prepared and impromptu debates, which challenges them to think on their feet and respond to complex topics with clarity and insight.

Often described as the World Cup of school debating, WSDC is recognised globally as a mark of academic excellence and leadership. Many participants go on to pursue top universities and careers in fields like law, policy, business and research. It is a competition that not only identifies outstanding young thinkers but also helps shape their future paths.

Our Commitment

WSDC UAE is a non-profit initiative fully funded by Vocalize since 2022, created with the sole objective of providing world-class training, resources, and mentorship to students across the UAE without any entry barriers. Any full-time student in the UAE aged 14 or above is eligible to apply, and those selected become part of the UAE Squad, receiving comprehensive training entirely free of cost for the entire year.

The project is led independently by highly reputed coaches who oversee both the trials and the training, ensuring fairness, transparency, and excellence at every stage.

From selection to coaching, every component of the program is offered free of charge and remains equally accessible to all students. Vocalize's role is to sustain the project by providing the necessary resources and support, while the coaching team empowers participants to develop the skills, confidence, and leadership qualities that will benefit them far beyond the debating circuit.
